Eileen Corigliano is a lifelong educator. She has been a member of the Staten Island Academy community since 1995. During her time at the Academy she has taught classes in Lower, Middle and Upper Schools, (PK through Grades 12). She has been an academic advisor, athletic coach as well as a student club moderator. Without hesitation, she affectionately calls the Academy home.
Dr. Corigliano, is affectionately called Dr. Crig by her students and peers. She can be found in her office with students and faculty, visiting classrooms, teaching or coaching. She feels it is important to maintain a connection to students and faculty by continuing to teach in the classroom and on the court. Being accessible, as part of the day-to-day with students, faculty and parents, is something she feels is essential to who she is as a leader and what the Academy community is all about.
Eileen earned her Doctoral in Education in 2022 at Northeastern University. Additionally, she has a Professional Diploma in Educational Administration and Supervision, a Master of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Speech Communication from St. John’s University. She was awarded the Administrator of the Year by the New York State School Counselor Association, National Association of Independent Schools Fellow, as well as other accolades over her time at the Academy. Additionally, she has served on and led various school evaluation teams for the New York State Association of Independent Schools.
Educating the “whole child” is the foundation of her educational philosophy. She believes that schools should offer a variety of core academic programs, including athletics, arts, technology and community-based service opportunities, while fostering intellectual, creative, social and physical development, all in a safe and nurturing environment.
Eileen serves on the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board. She is an active member of BRASI, Brooklyn and Staten Island Heads of School as well as serves as the Co-treasurer of The Guild, and organization for New York City Heads. Eileen is tremendously proud of the capital campaign work she has done along with the Board for the Academy, ranging from an equitable salary scale, renovation of existing spaces and the installation of a Innovation Lab were students and teachers can explore, create and imagine beyond the walls of a standard classroom. Additionally, introducing the school to Tigger, the Academy dog has broaden the educational experience to include the love, care, compassion and empathy for a K9 friend.
