I live with Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. It took over a year to be diagnosed and I was misdiagnosed with asthma. My stridor just got worse and worse and my quality of life was deteriorating. I went from being fit and active (running, cycling, aerobics, yoga etc) to not even being able to pull a load out of my washing machine. Walking up a flight of stairs needed a break in between. It was hard work just existing. It’s still hard now when I’m closing up and I have to take things a little easier but I book a surgery and for the months after I am back to a fit and active lifestyle, sadly it takes a surgery (balloon dilatation and laser) every 6-8 months to keep me alive and healthy.
Thanks for listening.
